What is your favorite decade of fashion trends?
The 70’s! The decade that birthed the most flattering dress ever created for the female body …the iconic “wrap dress” … still thanking Diane Von Furstenberg for that one! Then there was Halston! (can you tell I’m excited?! Lol) … The halter dress and his simple draped gowns were to die for and the reason he was fashion’s IT guy at the time. All that’s left is going in these gorgeous designs to the infamous Studio 54! 😉
What type of beauty products do you use on a daily basis?
I use products where nature meets science. All natural products with high enough %s of ingredients to actually make a difference. My products of choice are Osmosis. I know I’m using the best quality product that’s actually effective in healing the skin and slowing down the aging process.
When do you feel the most beautiful?
I feel my most beautiful when I’m happy, after a great workout and when I feel in love. “Beauty” is an energy that radiates brightest when you “feel good”. THAT’s the ‘secret’.
What advice would you give to a young girl on how to feel beautiful and confident?
I do this with my own daughter. Confidence stems from a sense of self acceptance filled with self love. This is challenging as a mother. Our daughters learn from us. How we treat ourselves, by the choices ‘we’ make and how we feel about ourselves. I’m very open with her about my personal struggles in this area so she can understand that it’s all ok. That there will be times when we don’t feel as good but even then, or especially then, we must accept ourselves as we are and be aware to fill up with love. Do things that make us happy, make choices that make us feel good and know that there is no other opinion that matters. That’s a big one for young girls! Defining opinion and the detachment of it is vital for one’s self esteem. In my career, I am at the mercy of others’ opinions for the most part, so naturally, that was a huge one for me as a woman. Someone always had an opinion on my looks. They still do! … The only difference is that it no longer makes a difference in how “I” feel about myself. I get to choose to feel beautiful. That’s what I’m teaching my daughter. I think when we truly feel beautiful we get to see and celebrate the beauty in others as well. Knowing you are the only version of YOU in this entire world allows you to own how unique and special you are and eliminates the unnecessary need to compete, compare and judge. In short, feel beautiful by feeling “good” and be confident by accepting yourself as you are. The key? You have to love yourself. No way around it.
